Position Description:
As a key member of the implementation team for our transition to cloud computing infrastructure and services, the Project Manager, Amazon Web Services Migration, will be responsible for overall project management and coordination responsibilities for UCLA's migration effort, including project scoping, development of detailed project plans, development work breakdown, milestone definition, resource planning and activity/project reporting for to transform our systems, infrastructure and application hosting framework. The Project Manager will collaborate with internal teams, subject matter experts and stakeholders to identify opportunities for migration, determine work effort and activities needed to move or re-design applications in preparation for migration to cloud-based hosting, facilitate cross-functional discussions to develop strategies and priorities for migration; coordinate capability development and training with vendors and functional areas. Additionally, the Project Manager will be the key interface with professional service providers, IT Services leadership, and internal teams to ensure projects are delivered within specified time frame and budget; coordinates project communications, develops detailed weekly, monthly and quarterly status reports for overall migration effort, identifies and remediates key issues to ensure project trajectory; ensures project documentation is organized and available to users; identifies and communicates industry best-practices related to AWS cloud migration projects. Additional infrastructure related projects may be assigned in conjunction or in addition to broader cloud-computing efforts. Develops and maintains detailed project plans for each project activity. Assignment may require after-hours project management activity as it relates to migration and cut-over activities.
