Job Description Summary:Husson University’s College of Science and Humanities invites applications for a full-time Assistant/Associate Professor and Coordinator of Health Sciences to begin in fall 2021. Candidates appropriate for this position should have an interest in engaging with an effective and meaningful academic program that prepares students to pursue graduate interests or direct entry into the health professions.
This degree program complements existing tracks within the College of Science and Humanities, which also offers undergraduate degrees in Exercise Science and Biology, as well as baccalaureate programs for Occupational Therapy, Pharmacy, and Physical Therapy professional degrees offered through the College of Health and Pharmacy. The Health Sciences program is offered in two degree tracks: a track tailored to students seeking admission to graduate school or direct entry into a variety of health professions and a pre-medicine track that provides specific preparation necessary to enter and succeed in medical school.
Husson University is a private institution of approximately 3500 undergraduate and graduate students located in Bangor, Maine. Duties and Responsibilities:Primary responsibilities of this faculty position include teaching science courses for undergraduate students in the major and in other related programs. The successful candidate will also fulfill faculty expectations for teaching, advising, service, and scholarship as outlined in university policies. The position requires teaching 24 credits per academic year.
As Coordinator of the Health Sciences program, the successful candidate will oversee all aspects of the degree curriculum, including course development and assessment, advisor training and oversight, and ongoing maintenance and growth of clinical partnerships in order to provide outstanding educational opportunities for students.
Note: This is not an online position; candidates are expected to teach on campus.
Education and Experience:The successful candidate should have an earned doctorate with a focus on anatomy and physiology or a related field and a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching and advising. Candidates should also have the ability and desire to develop an undergraduate research program.
Preferred qualifications: Previous higher education teaching experience in anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology, immunology or related courses; experience mentoring students seeking admission to professional health programs.
