Organizational Unit Overview:

The Department of Pediatrics is the largest multi-faceted organization within the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. The mission of the Department is to provide quality patient care, to teach the medical students and residents, and to carry out research. The Department includes 63 full-time faculty members and 11 part-time faculty members. There are approximately 150 clinical and support staff within the department. The department consists of 19 sections: Administration, Adolescent, Cardiology, Critical Care, Dental, Developmental Evaluation Clinic, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, General, Genetics, Hematology/Oncology, Infectious Disease, Medicine/Pediatrics, Neonatology, Nephrology, Neurology, Pediatric Outpatient and Labs (research and clinical), and Rheumatology. The Department is funded from State appropriated monies, practice plan income and by awarded grants. It is the mission of the Department of Pediatrics, ECU, and the Brody School of Medicine to provide exemplary medical education/training of physicians in pediatric medicine at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Additionally, it is the mission of the department to provide model comprehensive primary and consultative subspecialty care to children of eastern North Carolina to advance scientific knowledge through basic and clinical research.

Job Duties :

The primary purpose of this position is to provide administrative support daily for the Department of Pediatric Cardiology. Duties of this position include but are not limited to: answering the phone (doctor line only), process travel for physicians and staff, time and effort reporting for physicians, vacation/leave requests for physicians, update outlook calendars, reminders to physicians regarding Sedona, CV updates, etc., faculty recruitment, call schedule (input into Web on-call system and distribute, assist physicians with hospital credentialing, purchasing for Pediatric Cardiology and clinic (this includes ordering supplies for PAS staff/front desk, etc. provide support to the physicians and nurses as needed (copy, fax, make phone calls, type correspondence, etc.).

CLINICAL SUPPORT POSITION – NOT SUBJECT TO STATE HUMAN RESOURCES ACT.

The ECU Brody School of Medicine is affiliated with Vidant Medical Center. Vidant Medical Center is the flagship hospital for Vidant Health and serves as the teaching hospital for the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.
