The Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine is seeking highly motivated applicants for a Scientific Labratory Manager position with the laboratory of Dr. Carl Atkinson. This position will work closely with other members of the research team including scientist, clinicians, research coordinators and students investigating alterations in the immune system associated with chronic respiratory diseases and organ transplantation. The duties/responsibilities for this position include but not limited to:
- Plans, coordinates, and directs the scientific activities. Work closely with other members of the research team including scientist, clinicians, research coordinators and students investigating alterations in the immune system associated with chronic respiratory diseases and organ transplantation. Collaborate with PI in setting program’s scientific goals and evaluates progress towards goals with PI on a regular basis. Provides direct supervision and work flow plan to laboratory personnel. Provides guidance in the selection of methodology, depth and extent of analyses, and interpretation of results. Monitors progress of work by laboratory personnel in relation to established goals and priorities and reviews completed assignments. Reviews and approves all documentation generated by the laboratory. Coordinates troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of instrumentation.
- Prepares operating budget and orders laboratory supplies.
- Development and implementation of research policies and projects of lab. Develops methods and techniques for, and evaluates results of, experiments or studies. Work with PI on process improvement projects and development of policies for implementation
- Ad hoc assignments as outlined by the PI.Expected Salary:
$68,200-$74,000 commensurate based on experienceMinimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience. Appropriate college course work may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.Preferred Qualifications:
