Welding and sheet metal fabricationPosition Summary:
This position will construct and repair instrumentation working from blueprints, verbal instruction, and shop sketches. All aspects of instrument construction will be utilized, including but not limited to, electrical interface, plumbing, data acquisition, and material finishing. The primary focus of this position will be on machining. Welding and sheet metal fabrication experience a plus.
This position will travel to different campus buildings to repair equipment and pick up materials as needed.

•Setup and operation of machine tools, both manual and CNC.
•Maintain and record material list for each work order.
•Repair or modification of existing instrumentation.
•Communicate with the researchers and advise as needed regarding construction or modification of instrumentation upon intake of work orders.
•Responsible for maintaining organization and storage of all machine programs and part models.
•Use of CAD/CAM programs.
•Provides technical assistance as needed for research equipment repair.
•Evaluate and repair of electronic scientific devices.
•Help existing instrument makers, welders and fabricators.Percentage of time:
•Maintaining and performing visual surveys to insure proper quantities of material on hand for use in completing work orders.
•Physical inventory count.
