Eastern Washington University is seeking a self-motivated, independent worker for Custodian 3. Positions at this level lead and/or supervise assigned personnel performing various custodial and housekeeping duties. This position regularly assigns, instructs and checks the work of others, interviews and recommends selection of applicants, conducts training, assigns and schedules work, acts upon leave requests, conducts annual performance evaluations and recommends disciplinary action.

- Successful candidate must be able to lift up to 25 pounds on frequent basis and carry up to 75 pounds on an occasional basis. Successful candidate must be able to pass a pre-placement physical.

Clean and sanitize restrooms/bathrooms and fixtures that are in said facilities in accordance with established practices and procedures.
Clean, dust and wipe furniture; sweep, mop, or vacuum floors; empty wastebaskets and trash containers; empty and clean ashtrays and cigarette urns; replace light bulbs; refill restroom dispensers.
Assist with the setup of facilities for meetings, classrooms, conferences, events, etc.
Strip, clean, buff, and apply floor sealer and floor finish to floors; vacuum and shampoo carpets.
Use and maintain assigned power equipment and hand tools, buffers, auto scrubbers, extractors, high pressure washer, high speed buffers and vacuum, broom, mop, squeegee for the cleaning and general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, furniture, etc.
Wash walls and equipment; use ladders when required in work assignments.
Lock and unlock assigned buildings; secure building when facilities are not in use by checking for unlocked doors and windows; report any unauthorized occupants; turn out lights.
Follow instructions regarding the use of chemicals and supplies (mix only as directed).
May perform cleaning and related activities in areas within a reasonable distance from buildings using hand-operated tools or small power equipment (activities such as removing snow or debris, sweeping sidewalks or stairs).
May perform maid services in housing if required.
May assist in other areas when necessary.
May move furniture, equipment, supplies and tools on an incidental basis.
