Job Description Summary / TWC Summary:

Under general supervision of U54 grant PIs/PD, plans, implements and administers the day-to-day operations of the Center for Biomedical and Minority Health Research (CBMHR), supported by NIH/NIMHD. Directs personnel and manages fiscal activities to ensure operational and administrative compliance with relevant institutional, federal and state regulations and guidelines. Provides direct support to the CBMHR leaders, faculty, scientists/fellows and professional staff members.

This is a Grant Funded Position.

Essential Duties Summary:

•Establishes plans, objectives, policies, procedures and internal controls to achieve goals and deliver services consistent with program funding and University requirements and guidelines.
•Maintains appropriate staffing levels to achieve goals and objectives of the program. Supervises, coordinates and directs activities and work of assigned staff. Trains, develops, counsels and evaluates performance of staff within program area.
•Develops, administers and manages a detailed itemized program budget within program guidelines. Oversees the fiscal transactions of the program and authorizes budgeted expenditures, subject to final approval of the University’s Fiscal Office.
•In collaboration with Office of Research, submit grant proposals to NIH and other agencies on behalf of CBMHR faculty. Write proposals and seeks external funding for program when needed.
•Evaluates program performance and effectiveness and makes necessary modifications in priorities, schedules and activities according to regulations and/or contract.
•Coordinates pilot grant selection based on established selection criteria and eligibility requirements as defined by the funding source.
•Coordinates and arranges meetings, seminars, conferences, and travel plans. In collaboration with CBMHR TEAMRCMI, plans and coordinates the CBMHR seminars, faculty development activities and workshops. Prepares meeting agendas, reserves rooms and facilities, and distributes minutes of meetings when required.
•Prepares various reports, program materials and correspondence on program status, statistics and activities for the University, funding source, and in response to special requests.
•Serves as program representative or spokesperson and establishes relationships to integrate program with other services, promote awareness and provide technical advice to the community, program participants, other agencies and other universities.
•Develops and implements record-keeping systems on program participants, staff, equipment inventories and compliance activities.
•Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Hiring Range:

$48,273.00 - $60,341.00

Education:

Master’s degree (M.A., M.S. or M.B.A.) is required and knowledge and experience in grant management, writing, development is preferred.
