Department Summary:

The Division of Student & Academic Affairs at the University of North Texas is made of 10 main functional areas: The Career Center, Office of Student Development, Center for Academic Performance, Office of Care and Civility, Testing and Evaluation Services, Financial Aid Office, International Services, Office of Organization Excellence, Admissions & Recruitment and the Office of the Registrar.

Position Overview:

The Director of Student Services is a mid-manager position which provides supervision, coaching, and mentoring to full-time professional staff members within their area of responsibility. The Position coordinates programs, services, and activities in an effort to promote student learning outcomes established within each academic program on campus. The goal
of this position is to create opportunities to promote learning, ethical decision making, scholarship, and leadership within the student body.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and six (6) years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

*Master’s degree and/or six years of experience in a related field
*Experience in crisis management and wellness programming
*Previous Supervisory and Team building in a higher education setting experience
*Previous experience managing budgets and resources in higher education institutions

Work Schedule:

M-F 8am-5pm; some nights/weekends/on-call required

Physical Requirements:

o:

Provide supervision and management support for staff for the Office of Care and Civility.

o:

Oversee Care Team programs, services, and crisis response.

o:

Support and advocate for students who experience crisis; intervene directly in highly sensitive cases involving critical illness/injury, mental illness and other threats.

o:

Serve as Student Conduct Officer and investigate and adjudicate all student conduct cases.

o:

Administer and evaluate all UNTHSC student background checks.

o:

Assure confidentiality in all conduct related activities.

o:

Manage and develop contracts with external entities for background checks.

o:

Create regular opportunities to collaborate with faculty and professional staff about health assessment and wellness education in order to broaden the campus community understanding of bio-psychosocial influences on health behaviors and affect positive change.

o:

Develop co-curricular programming to promote positive health behaviors by students; anticipate, evaluate, and address changes in student needs and improve the student experience on campus.

o:

Develop collaborative partnerships across campus – both in and outside of the classroom – to ensure strategic integration of holistic wellness programs, initiatives, and services.

o:

Responsible for all aspects of the development and implementation of the QEP.

o:

Collaborate with QEP Advisory Committee, subject matter experts, schools and colleges and the Office of the Provost to create an impactful QEP that helps the University to achieve a successful outcome in the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) reaffirmation visit.

o:

Supervise QEP personnel responsible for program implementation, assessment and administrative functions.

o:

Develop and adhere to a budget for the QEP.

o:

Prepare QEP reports including timelines and progress reports in addition to all SACS-COC reports.
