Responsibilities
  • Applies professional instructional design skills to articulate course design, apply learning objectives / outcomes, include supportive learning activities and assessments, and select appropriate technologies and tools to achieve academic goals.
  • Works in collaboration with the senior instructional designer to apply professional instructional design skills to develop a wide range of online courses, apply learning objectives / outcomes, include supportive learning activities and assessments, and select appropriate technologies and tools to grow the portfolio of online offerings by Haas Digital and its organizational partners.
  • Consults with faculty and staff to determine methods for delivery of course content and effective use of technology that promotes learner engagement and knowledge acquisition.
  • Consults with faculty and staff on the effective use of instructional design strategies, web-based resources, multimedia technologies, and instructional software and systems to determine methods for delivery of course content, synchronously and asynchronously, to enhance the quality of learner engagement and knowledge acquisition.
  • The ability to manage a project with multiple stakeholders and shifting priorities is a key component of this position.
  • Supports faculty and staff in the creation of multimedia content, including interactive learning activities, and oversees the production of course content according to an established schedule.
  • Video storyboarding design to best represent instructional content is a key component of this position.
  • Ensures that content is developed according to ADA standards.
  • Deploys content on various learning management platforms.
  • Asynchronous (Canvas) and synchronous platforms (Zoom).
  • Monitors course progress during instructional term and resolves issues with faculty, teaching assistants, and staff.
  • Actively seeks out knowledge of new and emerging learning technologies.
  • Actively pursues technical or specialized training within the field of instructional design.

Required Qualifications
  • Thorough knowledge of functional area and understands how work within one course may impact work being done on other courses or in other areas.
  • Thorough analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations, demonstrating organization and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong analytical, verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills and strong collaboration and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrates the capacity to quickly acquire thorough knowledge of organization policies and procedures, including policies that impact online course development.
  • Thorough knowledge of instructional design principles and learning strategies, including needs analysis, backwards design, learning outcomes and assessment design, and instructional approaches including lecture, discussion, activities, projects, etc.
  • Thorough knowledge of the technical tools and platforms required to achieve the delivery of engaging and media-rich online learning content, and of trends in the use and effectiveness of educational technology and learning.
  • Thorough knowledge of various learning management systems (LMS) and learning tools interoperability (LTI).
  • Thorough knowledge of synchronous session platforms, especially Zoom.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of HTML/CSS and other basic client-side Web authoring skills and video production for the web.
  • Thorough knowledge of learning science principles, instructional design methodologies, approaches for evaluation and assessment, and current trends in teaching.
  • Demonstrates skill in working both independently and as a member of a team.
  • Availability & flexibility to provide occasional on-call, night, and weekend support.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of relevant work experience.
  • Demonstrates proficiency & skill when problem-solving, juggling multiple priorities, and working within set timeframes.

Education/Training:
  • Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent experience/training.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrates experience designing and adapting content for a variety of e-learning and web-based applications.
  • Graphic design experience for web and/or print media.
  • Master's Degree in Educational/Instructional Design or Technology and/or equivalent experience/training.

Salary & Benefits

This is an exempt, monthly paid position. Annual salary is commensurate with experience up to $88,500.00.
