Florida Atlantic University’s Kowalko Laboratory is recruiting a Research Specialist to perform research on the genetic and environmental factors that regulate behavior. This position will be based out of FAU’s John D. McArthur Campus in Jupiter, Florida. The Kowalko laboratory studies genetic and neural mechanisms underlying behavior in a small freshwater fish, the blind Mexican cavefish. The Research Specialist will perform all tasks under the supervision of the principal investigator. Primary responsibilities include: Performing general molecular biology techniques (cloning, transgenesis, genome editing, etc.) and behavioral analyses of sleep and social behavior. Under the guidance of the PI the Research Specialist will aid in project development, perform experiments, analyze data, and contribute to the writing of publications.Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization required.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential to success in this position.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel.
