Saint Vincent College seeks to hire a cohort of faculty with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and counselling students in pursuit of the Mission of the College. Faculty in this cohort would participate in peer mentorship, form a dedicated working group, and join the existing College faculty to advance key strategic initiatives.

The Department of Education at Saint Vincent College seeks an assistant professor in educational leadership, school counseling, and foundations, or related area. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate level courses. The focus of this position is to teach courses in leadership, educational psychology, human learning, field supervision in counseling, and introductory methods or foundations. S/he will teach a combination of undergraduate and graduate level courses each term. The candidate will provide program leadership, development and coordination and will work to build alliances with local school counselors and administrators.

Qualifications include a doctorate in education or a closely related field, successful teaching/counseling experience, educational leadership, and working knowledge in PreK-12 public education, the ability to teach aspiring leaders at the graduate level, as well as a thorough understanding of current issues and trends facing public education. Applicants should possess a strong commitment to working collaboratively with local school districts in Westmoreland County, PA, strong interpersonal communication skills, and significant familiarity with administration and program design.

Preference may be given to individuals who have served successfully a minimum of five (5) years as a teacher, school counselor and/or have held the position of in which the candidate had similar expertise and teaching in a PreK-12 public school district. The ideal candidate will have taught at the college level and understand the adult learner. The ideal candidate will have ideas about leadership and systems change and significant experience as a teacher and counselor in an educational setting that is characterized by a diverse student population, strong ties to the constituencies in the community, and effective instructional programs.
