Graduate/Post-Graduate Researcher in Interdisciplinary Science-in- Society Projects
TemporaryEssential Job Duties:
This position aims to assist the conduction of interdisciplinary research that connects science, innovation, and society. Highly motivated candidates who can work both independently and with diverse research teams are sought to assist in the conduction of research activities related to i) understanding and communicating stakeholder needs and perceptions of new
technologies used in food and agricultural sectors within the state of North Carolina, and ii) identifying and evaluating emerging contaminants and topics of concern pertaining to environmental health and risk assessment. Applicants will be expected to assist in
conducting qualitative research related to stakeholder needs and perceptions of new
technologies, including assisting with interviews and surveys, as well as assist in the preparation of outreach materials. Applications will also conduct literature reviews as well as assist in stakeholder interviews and questionnaires pertaining to emerging environmental health and risk topics of concern. Assisting with the development of peer-reviewed publications and presentations will also be possible.

-M.S. in natural sciences, social sciences, and/or communications, with experience in conducting interdisciplinary research and/or communicating with diverse stakeholder groups.Department Required Skills:
-Applicants must be able to assist with conduction of research activities, including the conduction of literature reviews and synthesize findings across diverse studies
-Must have the ability to communicate findings to diverse stakeholder groups
-Must be able to assist in the development of stakeholder interviews, surveys, and questionnaires
-Must be able to work independently and across diverse teams
-MS in natural sciences, social sciences, and/or communications, with 2 or more years of experience in conducting interdisciplinary research and/or communicating with diverse stakeholder groups; OR PhD in natural sciences, social sciences, and/or communications involving interdisciplinary research teams.Required License or Certification:
-Preferences will be given to applicants who have demonstrated interdisciplinary
research skills that span across natural sciences, social sciences, and communications, and have previously worked in connecting science-and-society in the development of emerging technologies across teams.
-Preferences will also be given to applications who have demonstrated capacity to navigate the landscape of emerging environmental contaminants
and risks of concern.
