Job Summary
Manage faculty appointment processes to include non-tenure track academic and research faculty, post doctoral fellow and post-retirement positions, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and polices. This position will interact on a regular basis with: Faculty Affairs representatives and contacts within campus units, Georgia Tech Human Resources, faculty members, Provost and EVP-Research office personnel. This position typically will advise and counsel: Faculty Affairs reps/contacts within units; faculty members; Provost and EVP-Research office personnel. This position will supervise: N/A
Responsibilities
Job Duty 1 -
Serve as liaison and point of contact to assigned Institute units for faculty hiring and faculty personnel policies and procedures.
Job Duty 2 -
Process faculty personnel actions, including hiring and reappointment packages, administrative appointments, resignations and retirements, etc.
Job Duty 3 -
Evaluate, and make recommendations regarding faculty compensation action requests.
Job Duty 4 -
Provide input into faculty compensation policies and procedures.
Job Duty 5 -
Manage special projects and other initiatives as assigned.
Job Duty 6 -
Assist unit leadership with maintaining complex faculty personnel records management and databases; this will include data management and archive coordination.
Job Duty 7 -
Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Experience
Four to six years of job related experience
Preferred Qualifications
Additional Preferred Qualifications
HRCI (Human Resource Certification Institute) or SHRM (Society for Human Resource Management) certification
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
SKILLS
Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail are required, along with excellent verbal and written communications, organization, customer service and planning. This position requires advanced knowledge of and ability to apply/interpret Board of Regents and Institute policies and procedures that govern academic human resources and faculty administration. Demonstrated experience in faculty employment including promotion and tenure. Demonstrated understanding of general immigration classifications and processing. Use of office and specialized computer applications and database systems is required. Experience with PeopleSoft, Microsoft Office suite, and Ellucian Banner is preferred.
