Department Description:

The Department of Psychiatry is committed to developing and promoting the integration of physical and behavioral medicine, including integrated care clinics such as UNC Wakebrook Primary Care. Wakebrook Primary Care is a full scope outpatient family medicine practice that provides enhanced primary care services to clients with serious mental illness – primarily schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, and bipolar disorder. The overall mission of the practice is to reduce the health disparities faced by individuals with mental illness and substance use disorder. In addition to high quality primary care providers and staff, the expanded team includes licensed clinical social workers and peer support specialists who offer integrated behavioral health services including: health and wellness classes, one-on-one health coaching, behavioral health support, addiction recovery support, tobacco cessation counseling, advance care planning, intensive case management, and behavioral health care coordination.

The clinic’s primary care team also offers office-based medication assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals with substance use disorder; provides medical co-management to patients on the Wakebrook residential and inpatient psychiatric treatment units; and offers medical consultation to patients being evaluated at the Wakebrook Crisis and Assessment psychiatric emergency service. Wakebrook Primary Care maintains strong relationships with the UNC Schizophrenia Treatment and Evaluation Program, the Wake County ACT teams, other Wake County psychiatric providers, and Alliance LME-MCO. Our vision is to provide high quality primary care to individuals with mental illness and substance use disorder, while advocating for the replication and dissemination of integrated care models across the state of North Carolina and beyond.

Position Description:

This position is located in Raleigh, NC. The primary purpose of this position is to provide administrative management of all clinical and financial operations for UNC Wakebrook Primary Care. The Project Manager will serve as the administrative lead of UNC Wakebrook Primary Care, a primary care clinic which serves individuals with mental illness and substance use disorder. The position will work in collaboration with the medical director and behavioral health lead to manage clinic operations and personnel; will oversee day-to-day operations, clinic flow, and quality improvement efforts while working to optimize schedule utilization and improve patient experience.

The Project Manager will oversee all financial operations and budgeting for the practice. The Project Manager will be tasked with reviewing and revising of billing practices and receipts in order to optimize revenue. The position will include working with third party payors as needed, including preparation for participation in the North Carolina Medicaid Tailored Plans and other value-based payment structures.

This position will be responsible for grant administration, including reporting to the appropriate grant agencies and seeking additional funding opportunities to support clinical activities; will assist with data collection and analysis as needed to demonstrate clinical value and cost savings achieved by the model of care. This position will require collaboration with grantors, stakeholders, and other integrated care sites across the state, as well as advocacy toward promoting integrated care at the local and state level.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, or related business area; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

Experience in health care administration, business, or other leadership role. Comfortable working with culturally diverse populations, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and individuals with mental illness and substance use disorder.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree preferred. Experience with grant administration. Experience within the past 5 years working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, collaboratively practicing with providers, health workers, health educators, and other health professionals. Excellent organization, follow through, and ability to juggle multiple priorities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
