FSU's Equal Opportunity Statement can be viewed at: http://www.hr.fsu.edu/PDF/Publications/diversity/EEO_Statement.pdfResponsibilities This position is responsible for all business operations for the OoC, including purchasing, travel, serving as a P-Card proxy, as well as serving as the human resources liaison to the Office of the VP for Research. This position will serve as the Budget Manager for the OoC, including reconciling all OoC budgets (SRAD funds, external C&G funds and Research Foundation funds), as well as making budget projections to advise the Director on business decisions for the office. Also, this position will perform all non-accounting duties related to managing royalty contracts, such as managing the royalty contract execution process, as well as reviewing all legal, patent & copyright fee payments prepared by the FSURF Accountant for accuracy prior to payment. Additionally, this position will manage all patent payments, including managing collections for past-due payments.
This position also manages the Grant Assistance Program (GAP), which supports the enhancement of inventions and other original works that have been disclosed to FSU, for the OoC, including coordinating all program announcements, managing the program timeline, receiving proposals for applicants, pre-screening proposals for completeness, facilitating committee review, and notifying awarded applicants of their funding.
Additionally, the individual will manage all event operations (virtual and in-person) for the OoC, including coordinating all event planning, managing the event budget, facilitating execution of all event contracts, overseeing event operations, creating invites and managing guest lists, etc. On average the OoC has 1-2 events per year.
They will manage all office operations, such as serving as the Property Manager for OcC, managing the state-owned OoC vehicle, and supervising the other administrative staff. This individual will oversee the 3rd party database to ensure all agreements are entered timely and accurately. This position will also manage the OoC website to ensure information is up to date and accurate.Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and two years’ experience in business operations and/or office management, or post high school education and six years’ experience.
Experience with managing a budget, general accounting or cost control procedures.
Ability to interpret and apply related University policies, procedures, principles, and practices.
Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply related federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, rules and regulations.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Knowledge of electronic data processing as it applies to fiscal and accounting activities.
Ability to compile, review, and reconcile data for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.Preferred Bachelor’s degree and two years’ experience in business operations and/or office management.
