The Department of Family Medicine is one of eleven clinical departments at the Brody School of Medicine. The purpose of the department is to improve the health of the people of eastern North Carolina through leadership in Family Medicine education, research and health care services. The department provides accessible, high quality health care for its patients.
The Department of Family Medicine consists of seven divisions, as well as a central administration office. Each division has a responsibility that supports the overall mission of the department. The divisions include educational development, research, medical student education, residency, geriatrics, clinical services, and sports medicine. Clinical activities take place in the Family Medicine Center, Robert and Frances Monk Geriatric Center, Firetower Medical Office, nursing homes, Vidant Medical Center and in the community.Job Duties :
The Licensed Practical Nurse will provide direct nursing care by assisting providers during procedures and examination and performing nursing skills as endorsed by the Nurse Practice Act for licensed practical nurses. The LPN will acquire, through interview, a brief history of the patient’s problems or needs; obtain vital signs; prepare and chaperone during examinations by physician/health care providers. The LPN will be expected to perform blood collection by venipuncture and capillary method from pediatric and adult patients, and administer or assist in the administration of topical, oral, and injectable medications. Medication prescription refills may be called in by this professional, following written protocol of the prescribing physician. The LPN will assist the lead staff nurse in maintaining inventories of medications, solutions, supplies and equipment.

The ECU Brody School of Medicine is affiliated with Vidant Medical Center. Vidant Medical Center is the flagship hospital for Vidant Health and serves as the teaching hospital for the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.Minimum Education/Experience:
