Job Description:

As a Clinical Research Budget Analyst, you will support the Clinical Research Office in the development, oversight, and negotiation of budgets for the UFHCC portfolio of clinical trials. This position requires thorough knowledge, understanding, and application of GAAP and GAS principles, a high degree of attention to detail, as well as expertise in the development of clinical research budgets in an academic or medical setting.

In your new role you will be responsible for the following:

  • Liaising with investigators, sponsors, and other partners in the development, negotiation, and finalization of budgets for new and existing clinical trials;
  • Coordinating and negotiating new and revised service rate agreements and contracts for use in new and revised trial budgets;
  • Developing a comprehensive clinical research budgeting process and for advancing the research mission of the Cancer Center;
  • Advising investigators, Protocol Activation staff, and study teams regarding budget development and ensuring appropriate Medicare Coverage Analysis;
  • Assisting with the development of the overall CRO budget, incorporating clinical trials revenues and expenses for the previous fiscal year and forecasting direct and indirect costs and revenues for open/pending trials;
  • Managing sub-site and affiliate budgets for UFHCC Investigator Initiated Clinical Trials.

Expected Salary:

$68,000 - $78,000 annually; commensurate with education and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Master’s degree in an appropriate area; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience.

Professional clinical research project management (through ACRP, etc.) are required at the earliest of 12 months from hire or eligibility.

Preferred Qualifications:

As an ideal candidate you will have/be:

  • A Master’s Degree in Health Care, and/or Basic Sciences and four or more years of relevant experience preferred;
  • Significant experience with clinical research budgeting and negotiation experience in an academic/medical setting, or equivalent required;
  • Extensive working knowledge and understanding of the university research environment in an academic medical setting;
  • Demonstrated working knowledge and understanding of FDA regulations, CFR statutes, and ICH-GCP guidelines;
  • Demonstrated working knowledge and understanding of federal research management guidelines, including OMB A-81, and FAR practices;
  • Demonstrated working knowledge and understanding of accounting practices and applied GAAP and GAS principles;
  • Demonstrated working knowledge and understanding of clinical trials management and financial accounting;
  • Extensive knowledge of State/Federal and institutional accounting rules and regulations is highly preferred;
  • Ability to develop budgets and negotiate service rate agreements that may include coordinating with multiple departments;
  • Demonstrated ability to work with detailed financial data and to analyze financial information, providing logical conclusions/projections and program evaluation and anticipating costs/obligations;
  • Working knowledge and understanding of general business operations and office management principles, as well as clinical research management techniques;
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate program issues and to respond appropriately in a timely manner;
  • Exceptional customer service with a professional, trustworthy, approachable demeanor and strong interpersonal skills, as well as the ability and desire to work with a broad range of people;
  • Highly resourceful team-player, with the ability to also be effective independently, maintain appropriate discretion, and utilize effective writing and organizational skills;
  • Demonstrated forward-thinking mentality with the ability to achieve high performance goals and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment;
  • Demonstrated strong desire to establish and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders and critical staff, both internally and externally, through a variety of communication mediums and venues;
  • Excellent delegation and time management skills and ability to successfully manage multiple priorities seamlessly with excellent attention to detail;
  • Strong analytical, creative problem solving, and critical thinking skillset;
  • Demonstrated success and experience in project management;
  • Extensive experience working with database systems, with experience working with patient and/or other sensitive data strongly preferred;
  • Proficiency using the Microsoft Office suite, especially Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
