Job Description:

As a Data Management Analyst III in the Cancer Informatics Shared Resource (CISR), you will collaborate with other members of the CISR to provide expertise to cancer investigators as they navigate complex data and informatics resources, including internal and external data sources as well as providing expert data management, processing, and analytics in support of their research. This position will be responsible for developing business intelligence reporting foundation, identifying data needs, and extracting data from multiple UF enterprise and clinical databases. This position requires a high degree of professionalism, critical thinking, independent judgement, as well as a diverse skillset in data science.

In your new role you will be responsible for the following:

  • Leveraging expertise in database design, data ontology practices, and statistical analyses to execute data collection, management, quality assessment, analysis, and reporting requests and projects brought to the CISR team by Cancer Center members, leadership, and other stakeholders;
  • Designing and developing databases in SQL to be used for data collection activities by the Center and its members;
  • Using R, Python, Tableau, and/or other analysis software platforms to manipulate and analyze data for Quality Assurance;
  • Leading and participating in a variety of informatics, Business Intelligence (BI), and other data-related projects requested of the CISR team, working with stakeholders across the UFHCC, University of Florida, and other internal and external partners;
  • Using software tools for BI and analytics (eg. SAP product stack) and other resources to provide reports and analyses to decision makers across the Center;
  • Active participation, assistance, and coordination of BI and other reporting needs, data validation, and concept development for enterprise reporting and metrics development specific to the UFHCC clinical and research enterprise.
  • This is an experienced, professional level position, ideal for candidates with an established career in data analytics and informatics. Employees in these roles operate as part of our collaborative research enterprise and are fundamental to the progress of cancer research being conducted at the University of Florida.     Expected Salary:

    $70,000 – $80,000; Commensurate with Education and Experience.

    Minimum Requirements:

    Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of appropriate experience.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    As an ideal candidate you will have/be:

    • A Master's degree in computer science, statistics, information systems, or related field and four years of relevant experience;

    • Demonstrated experience with database design, reporting tools, and project management and familiarity with health care information system industry;

    • Demonstrated experience with Electronic Health Records (EHRs) (such as Epic), systems, and data design;

    • Experience in working with biomedical researchers, preferably in a complex Academic Medical Center;

    • Demonstrated experience in translating user questions into data queries or programs that extract the appropriate data subsets, produce useful analytic results;

    • Demonstrated ability to interpret and present data findings in meaningful ways;

    • In-depth knowledge of SQL;

    • In-depth knowledge of general data science/programing language and frameworks (e.g., R, Python, SAS, etc);

    • Experience with data integration and business intelligence software (SAP product stack);

    • Experience with general statistical software (e.g. SAS, R);

    • Excellent technical writing and communication skills;

    • Knowledge of basic principles of clinical operation and research;

    • Knowledge of clinical trials management systems (CTMS) and EHR data feed standards (HL7, LAR, FHIR, RPE, CRPC, etc);

    • Ability to plan, prioritize, organize and coordinate work assignments in a fast-paced deadline-driven work atmosphere and adjust plans according to situation with a solution-oriented perspective;

    • Ability to work effectively and independently;

    • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing;

    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others and appreciate a culturally diverse organization.
