Position Description:

The Department of English at Texas State University invites applicants for a senior lecturer. The successful applicant will supervise student teachers; teach courses to prepare students seeking teaching certification as well as other courses in the Department of English; participate in ongoing training required by the Office of Educator Preparation; and provide service to the department by being a member of at least two departmental committees. As a full-time faculty member, the Senior Lecturer will teach four courses per semester with a flexible schedule and benefits. All positions are subject to availability of funds.

Required Qualifications:

• Master’s in English or M.F.A. in Creative Writing, in hand;
• Current certification by the State of Texas to teach English Language Arts at the secondary level; and
• Ability to travel in personal car to observe student teachers and meet instructors in secondary schools in Central Texas (minimum of 5 trips per student per semester) (travel is reimbursed).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience supervising and preparing student teachers;
• Experience teaching English Language Arts at the secondary level; and
• Experience teaching at the college-level.
