Job Summary:

Organizes, manages and coordinates an instructional laboratory operation with faculty to support Instructional effectiveness.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Trains and supervises part-time employees assigned to the laboratory
• Maintains inventory records and an accurate accountability for all supplies, materials, equipment and software computer packages in multiple labs
• Researches and purchase specialized items for Construction and Surveying Labs
• Recommends purchases and monitors expenditures for items suited for multiple laboratories
• Designs and implements sound operational policies and procedures for the laboratory
• Evaluates effectiveness of operational policies and procedures
• Write reports and maintains summaries of lab usage
• Develops instructional objectives, plans and assessment tools for the area of responsibility
• Provides instruction, advisement and assistance to students to supplement instructional program and facilitate the achievement of educational goals
• Prepares lesson outline and plans in assigned area
• Plans, prepares, and develops various teaching aids and materials
• Plans, organizes, and coordinates lab activities
• Presents subject matter to students, utilizing variety of methods and techniques such as lecture, discussion, and supervised role-playing
• Prepares, administers, and grades examinations
• Assists students, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments to present or reinforce learning concepts
• Develops informational materials describing laboratory services
• Provides tutoring and mentoring services to students as needed
• Establishes and implements policies and procedures for lab operation
• Inspects all safety and emergency equipment and supplies to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
• Teaches classes daily
• Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
• Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College (TCC)
• Supports the values of the College: diversity, teaching excellence, student success, innovation and creativity and service to the College
• Supports the mission, values and 3 goals and 8 principles of the College

Required Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensures:

• Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university
• Courses in the specialized field or equivalent knowledge and experience
• Three (3) years of experience with extensive knowledge and/or experience in the specialized field
• Supervisory experience
• Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Experience working with computerized systems

Desired Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensures:

• Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university
