The Division of Cardiovascular Medicine in the Department of Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for several Assistant Professor positions in the non-tenure research track. Expertise is required in the specific area of myocardial biology, cardiomyocyte physiology and/or genetic cardiomyopathies. To support the research programs within the Penn Cardiovascular Institute, technical expertise in cell physiology, molecular biology, cell culture and studies of both adult and stem cell-derived cardiomyocytes is desired. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree.

Research or scholarship responsibilities may include assessments of in vitro contractility and calcium homeostasis in cardiomyocytes with and without genetic manipulations, including both adult cardiomyocytes and iPSC-derived cardiomyocytes. Responsibilities may also involve use of novel biomaterials to assess mechanotransduction in 2D and 3D cell/tissue culture formats.

It is expected that selected candidates will be capable of securing independent funding within 1-2 years of starting the position.
