Department Summary:

Applied Arts and Sciences is a unit of New College within the University of North Texas. Our staff and faculty work closely together to ensure that students declaring the Applied Arts and Sciences major can combine their prior educational experiences with UNT learning to build a degree that helps to advance their life and career goals. Our students come from many different backgrounds, and most transfer into our program with quite a few college credits, often including technical coursework. After completing the university core curriculum and additional upper level coursework, people earning the Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences degree are prepared to tackle new challenges as leaders in business, industry, non-profit organizations, and community engagement. We emphasize teamwork and excellent communication about complex issues in our courses.

Position Summary:

The Department of Applied Arts & Sciences program seeks qualified individuals for its Adjunct Instructor pool and welcomes applicants at any time. This posting is for the Fall 2020, Spring 2021 and Summer 2021 semesters. The specific courses involved may vary from semester to semester and openings to teach these courses develop on a periodic basis, depending on department teaching needs.

The anticipated need is for Adjunct Instructors whose duties may include, but are not limited to teaching the following courses:
BAAS 3000 – Pathways to Civic Engagement
BAAS 3020 – Fundamentals of Inquiry and Discovery
BAAS 4100 – Managing a 21st Century Career

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree in a relevant field (i.e. Political Science, Sociology, Anthropology, Criminal Justice, Psychology, Public Administration, Statistics).

Preferred Qualifications:

PhD or ABD, Experience teaching in multidisciplinary or cross disciplinary courses, Experience with hybrid/online course instruction.
