The Executive Director for Research Compliance assists the Associate Vice President in providing strategic vision to compliance programs related to oversight committees, financial conflict of interest in research, research misconduct and export control.

The position has direct oversight responsibility of the operations of the Safety Committees (IBC, Radiation Safety, Lab Safety, etc), IACUC, Human Subjects Protection Program (IRB) on the Charles River Campus, Investigator Financial Conflicts of Interest, Quality Assurance, and Export Control.

The Executive Director will work closely with the Office of Research Compliance Unit Directors, Animal Science Center (ASC), Medical Campus Human Subjects Research Protection Program, and clinical and research leadership of Boston University (BU), Boston Medical Center (BMC) and affiliates to meet the mission of ORC by providing research support and regulatory oversight, and will represent those institutions at meetings with external regulatory, community, planning and development authorities as needed.

Required Skills

The minimum education & experience level required are B.A. or B.S with 5 to 8 years of experience in related position. A Master’s degree is preferred. A successful candidate must be computer literate with a proven understanding of Microsoft Office and Access databases, excellent attention to detail and organization skills in tracking and preparing text documents. Knowledge of standard procedures in the field is required.

The Executive Director liaisons with a variety of partners. Solid interpersonal skills are pertinent to the success of a candidate. The incumbent will work with trainees and PIs as well as various other University representatives on the Committee.
