Director, Operations & Maintenance

Position Summary:

Responsible for providing leadership in the management of the facilities and grounds maintenance and utility operations; for complying with all legal and regulatory requirements affecting maintenance and safety; and for ensuring optimum efficiency and effectiveness in the use of resources to achieve the University’s goals and objectives.

Required Qualifications:

•Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major studies in architecture, engineering or a related field.
•Significant experience leading maintenance planning and operations.
•Progressively responsible positions in public works or facilities management organization in a public sector environment.
•Significant experience with utility distribution system design, maintenance and repair.
•Demonstrated ability to formulate operating budgets, project budget estimates, and business case presentations.
•Demonstrated knowledge of sustainable practices relating to facilities management.
•Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations and customer groups.
•Ability to effectively facilitate and lead meetings and work groups.

Preferred Qualifications:

•An advanced degree in architecture, engineering or related field is preferred
•Registration as an architect or professional engineer.
•Substantial experience in facilities management in higher education or other public sector entity.
•Knowledge of the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code and procedures related to design and construction in the Commonwealth of Virginia is preferred.

Advertised Pay Range:

Up to $130,000 based on experience
