Creates student study guides for the Fast Track Advanced Manufacturing Technology curriculum.
This position is expected to last from December 1, 2020 - September 30, 2021.Description of Duties and TasksEssential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Benchmarks best practices for creating "quick review" reference guides and provides recommendations on preferred methods of delivery.
  • Coordinates with instructors to learn about subject matter, and create and refine study guide templates for each topic in the Fast Track Advanced Manufacturing curriculum.
  • Develops proposed study guides for select Fast Track Advanced Manufacturing Technology topics as directed by the Program Manager for Corporate Initiatives.
  • Participates in meetings with regional corporate partners, instructors, and Manufacturing Technology program staff to evaluate drafts of developed materials leading to final document production.
  • Meets all deliverables specified under the Project Activities and Evaluation Plan supplied by the college according to Perkins Leadership grant requirements.
  • Assesses the audience needs for whom the study guides are intended; adjusts tone and technical terms used to meet those needs and to ensure understanding.
  • Creates diagrams, charts, and other visual aids to assist students in understanding curriculum.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • KnowledgeMust possess required knowledge and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.

    Advanced technical writing and editing knowledge, including expertise in writing for a student audience. Knowledge of advanced grammar, spelling, and punctuation.SkillsMust possess required skills and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.

    Ability to translate highly technical information into easily understandable content. Ability to creatively use photographs, drawings, diagrams, animation, and charts to increase users' understanding. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Maintain an established work schedule which may include occasional evenings and weekends. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the college. Ability to work as a contributing team member. Maintain confidentiality of work-related information and materials. Technology Skills

    Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of digital publishing platforms.Required Work Experience

  • Two years of related work experience.
  • Preferred Work Experience

    Five years of experience as a Technical Writer or similar role. Experience writing textbooks or similar material. Experience in in manufacturing technology.Required Education

  • Associate degree.
  • Preferred Education

    Bachelor's degree.Physical Requirements

    Work is performed in a standard office environment. Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. Occasional lifting of objects up to 10 pounds.Safety

  • ACC Benefits OverviewFull-time Faculty and Staffing Table employees who work in full-time and/or part-time positions at the College are eligible for ACC medical benefits effective the first of the month after their first 60 days of employment. Benefits include medical, dental, life insurance, short and long term disability, retirement plans and AD&D.

    ACC does not participate in Social Security. ACC participates in the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) and the Optional Retirement Program (ORP-Faculty Only). Part-time and Hourly employees participate in the ACC Money Purchase Plan (ACCMPP) as a retirement program required by Federal law.
