Summary of Duties:

The Finance/Budget Manager reports directly to the Director of Administrative Services and has full authority to act in the absence of the Director. The incumbent is responsible for assisting with the day to day and overall financial management and administrative functions of a large complex college that supports academic programs (5 schools), service (3 large research centers), maintenance and other related activities. This position uses considerable independent judgement while assisting the Director which includes, but not limited to, budget development and allocations; temporary funding commitments; student data development and projections as related to tuition revenue; personnel/payroll functions; assist the Director in business process improvement, training, developing and implementing policies, decisions, and procedures ensuring university, state and federal compliance. This person may work directly with the dean or associate deans on special projects; and serves as administrative liaison to college departments and university business offices.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field, and four (4) years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified which has included at least one (1) year of supervisory experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Additional Requirements:

Demonstrated experience analyzing and interpreting financial data and preparing financial reports, statements and/or fiscal projections.

Proficiency with computer software (Microsoft Office applications) and database applications.

Experience auditing, reconciling, analyzing data.

Experience reviewing complex multi-account reports in accordance with federal guidelines and budget restrictions.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Washington State University budget, accounting and personnel systems.

Demonstrated ability to work with diverse clientele.

Experience working in an academic environment.

Demonstrated ability to multi-task, and manage multiple projects and events.
