Summary of Duties:

The Department of Management, Information Systems and Entrepreneurship at Washington State University is seeking qualified candidates for one or more tenure-track faculty positions in Management Information Systems (MIS), based at our Pullman campus. We will consider candidates at the rank of assistant, associate, or full professor. Preference will be given to candidates at the assistant professor level. The position is subject to budget approval.

The successful candidate will be required to teach four MIS courses per year (typically two per semester), conduct high quality academic research, and make rank-appropriate service contributions to the Department, College, University, and community. There is a possibility of teaching in international business based on candidate interest and college needs. The candidate will be expected to participate actively in the MIS Ph.D. program.

Additional Information:

The term of appointment is a nine-month academic year beginning on August 16, 2021. Rank is open; competitive salary and benefits with excellent retirement programs. Summer support is provided.

Founded in 1890 in Pullman, WSU is the state of Washington’s land-grant institution and one of the country’s top public research universities. The Carson College of Business (CCB) enrolls more than 2,500 undergraduate students and 1,200 online MBA and Executive MBA students combined. The Online MBA program is currently ranked 12th by Poets and Quants and 18th by U.S. News and World Report. The college has 92 full-time faculty across its campuses and 75 staff. The Department of Management, Information Systems, and Entrepreneurship consists of 32 faculty (across 3 campuses) who value quality research and excellent teaching. The Carson College of Business has invested in a state-of-the-art Center for Behavioral Business Research (CBBR; opened in early 2010). Opportunities exist for faculty to participate in faculty-led study abroad programs also exist.

Required Qualifications:

An earned doctorate. in Management Information Systems or closely aligned field from a nationally or internationally recognized university by the appointment start date. Demonstrated potential to establish a successful record of scholarly research, as evidenced by copies of published articles, submitted manuscripts, and/or working papers targeted at publication in top-tier MIS journals. Evidence of potential for excellence in teaching and a commitment to teaching effectiveness at undergraduate and graduate levels. Candidates for more senior appointments, associate and full professor, should additionally have an established record of excellence in research and teaching. Candidates for full professor should additionally have made significant scholarly contributions to the discipline.

Preferred Qualifications:

Candidates with capabilities of teaching a variety of undergraduate and graduate-level MIS courses in face-to-face and online settings preferred. We are open to a variety of MIS research areas and methodologies, although we are particularly interested in scholars whose work aligns with that of existing research faculty. For associate and full professors, preference is given to candidates with a successful record of working with doctoral students.
