DescriptionThis position is the Communications Coordinator for the National Institute for Human Resilience (NIHR). This full-time (100%) position reports directly to the Marketing and Strategic Relations Program Director. The position has a broad range of tasks in marketing communications fields (marketing, public relations, digital, publications, etc.). The individual should be capable of functioning at a high level of performance and collaboration, and have a passion for the mission of the NIHR, which is advancing human resilience from trauma by pioneering strength-based solutions through interdisciplinary research, education, community empowerment, and healing.

Who We Are:
The University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) is one of four campuses in the University of Colorado system and is home to over 10,500 undergraduate and 1,900 graduate students.

Job Duties:

  • Research, interview, and write content for a variety of communications including, but not limited to, social media, websites, slides, and collateral material.
  • Working within the UCCS/NIHR brand standards and creative direction of NIHR’s Marketing Director, layout and design collateral materials, such as newsletters, emails, and reports. 
  • Edit/proofread all outgoing communications for correct branding, grammar, and usage and obtain approvals from stakeholders.
  • Assist with administrative needs for marketing communications projects, such as setting up files for printers and coordinating email blasts.
  • Coordinate and implement strategies for areas of marketing, such as videography, photography, podcasts, and market research.
  • Other duties as assigned.Job Competencies:

  • Ideally, intermediate to advanced skill level in InDesign with some ability in Photoshop, Illustrator, and/or Premiere.
  • This position has been determined to be exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

    Salary Range: Generally starting at $42,468 - $53,085

    This position is dependent on the availability of external gift funding. 

    Currently, the majority of the work for this position will be in a remote capacity; however, once UCCS resumes regular operations, this position requires that the majority of work will be performed in-person and on-campus.

    Tentative Search Schedule:

  • The potential dates for interviews with the search committee will be the week of December 7, 2020.

  • The potential dates for interviews with the supervisor and appointing authority will be the week of December 14, 2020.

  • The potential employee start date is January 4, 2021.

    QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university conferred by date of hire with a concentration in marketing, communication, public relations, advertising or related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience developing brand awareness and marketing communications in an agency, or agency-like, environment, e.g. marketing/creative/advertising agency. (cumulative fulltime experience must be demonstrated in your resume)
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience developing brand awareness and marketing communications in an agency, or agency-like, environment, e.g. marketing/creative/advertising agency.
  • 5 years of experience in layout and design of publications and collateral material and production of digital assets such as photography, videography, social media content, website content, and podcasts.
  • 5 years of experience with computer applications, including Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Physical Requirements:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit.  Employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. Tasks may involve looking at computer screen continuously for long periods of time; talking and hearing within normal range. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
