Position Highlights:

A Postdoctoral Research Associate position is currently available in the School and Animal and Comparative Biomedical Sciences at the University of Arizona in Tucson, AZ. The position will be located on the University of Arizona campus. The candidate will be involved in generating preliminary data related to the study of the impact of forest fires on the diversity of meso and microbial fauna and their role in the reestablishment of nutrients and minerals to soil affected by fires.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Engage and perform systematic soil sampling in Arizona Sky Islands.
  • Design experiments and develop new hypotheses.
  • Perform wet lab analyses (PCR, qPCR, microbiology techniques, nematode rearing, etc.).
  • Draw conclusions and or make predictions based on data.
  • Write and prepare materials for submission or research proposals to federal and non-federal granting agencies.
  • Engage with fellow lab members to foster a collaborative and enjoyable work environment.
  • Assist with supervision and mentoring of undergraduate students.
  • Design experiments and develop new hypotheses.
  • Draw conclusions and or make predictions based on data.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills highly preferred.
  • Additional duties may be assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in a relevant field of study.
  • Experience in scientific experimentation and data collection.
  • Experience in bioinformatics metagenomics.
