Physical Requirements:

The ability to lift, carry, push and pull objects up to 25 pounds on a daily basis, kneel and bend, as well as stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time. Tasks will involve repetitive motions.

Shift:

Primarily day shifts; may include some weekends and holidays. Hours and days of the week subject to change based on needs of department.

Job Summary:

The department of pharmacy is seeking a dependable, full-time, self-motivated, experienced Medical Billing Specialist for a Durable Medical Equipment (DME) business. Prior experience with Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance billing and companies is required and knowledge of DME billing systems is a plus. This position will be responsible for intake information for referrals, maintaining patient records, CMN preparation, benefits investigations for new patients and re-verification for current patients, and additional administrative tasks as assigned. The successful individual in this role will be organized, have excellent attention to detail, the ability to evaluate options and make decisions efficiently, and dedication to quality patient care.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities:

Computer/Microsoft Office Suite; strong customer service skills; and excellent organizational and time management skills.

Preferred Education/Experience:

• The ideal candidate will have medical office or billing experience, experience with insurance verification, and/or familiarity with DME equipment and DME patient management software.
• Experience interpreting/processing explanation of benefits (EOB) and insurance denials, ability to resolve past due claims, and knowledge of insurance payer specific prior authorization requirements is preferred.
