Lifting, pushing, pulling objects up to 50 pounds, sitting at a computer work station for the majority of the day, contact with animals, animal facilities, entry into areas where human pathogens are manipulated.Shift:
Monday – Friday; 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.Job Summary:
This position supports the function of the Institutional Biosafety Committee at UK and the mission of the Department of Biological Safety to ensure research safety in work with biohazards on the UK campus for faculty, staff, students, and visitors, as well as compliance with all applicable statutes and regulations relating to biohazardous research safety. Provide research biohazard safety subject matter expertise to investigators and administrators relative to NIH, BMBL, & other pertinent regulatory agencies. Review IBC committee protocols and other research related documents to address hazard usage and safety concerns. Conduct audits of research facilities.Skills / Knowledge / Abilities:
Scientific literature search and review, Computer skills including MS Office, email, and function specific databases. Strong organizational skills. Verbal and written communication skills including generation and maintenance of regulatory compliance documentation.Does this position have supervisory responsibilities? :
Work experience in research lab or compliance/biosafety.
