The Projection Technician enhances MDC Tower Theater Miami patrons’ movie-going experience by providing superior visual and audio experience and consistently maintaining a professional, clean and flawless presentation. This position provides technical support and constant monitoring of all equipment to ensure smooth proper operation.

- Loads and operates film projector, audio source, reel units, assembles and/or repairs film prints
- Presents films in a clear, clean and professional manner
- Checks for correct volume level and automation before each show
- Watches each presentation, focusing on show quality, technical difficulties, projector light level, and film threading; and monitors playback units, sound console, and other audio systems
- Provides constant monitoring of the image on the screen to ensures proper focus, brightness and cleanliness
- Assures audio is always in sync with film and appropriate subtitles
- Monitors all video recording or flash photography inside the screening room
- Ensures that the film print and soundtrack are maintained in the best possible manner
- Stores film print and soundtrack overnight according to specifications
- Provides constant monitoring of the equipment to ensure proper operation
- Provides routine technical maintenance for selected projectors (changing lamps, cleaning optics, replacing wiper bar, etc.) as required
- Performs prevention maintenance and emergency repairs to keep all projection systems in good working order
- Maintains a log of print condition, to include condition upon receipt, any damage to print during a run, and upon shipping the print out of the booth
- Communicates with team members to ensure shows start on time and to inform them of any issues or concerns
- Assists other team members as needed
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Associate’s degree in a technical or related field and four (4) years of general experience in the operation and maintenance of projection and audio/visual equipment or equivalent combination of education and/or related experience.
- All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
- Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures
- Knowledge of installation and maintenance of film projectors, soundtrack, and video cassette players
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask
- Ability to manage time efficiently and produce quality work within pre-set time frames
- Ability to perform basic service and repair, as well as operate a wide range of electrical, electronic and optical equipment
- Ability to work well with other team members, all personalities at various levels Ability to work in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty, and staff.
