Proteomics and Mass Spectrometrist
The Department of Molecular Biology at Princeton University seeks a Ph.D.-level scientist with expertise in Mass Spectrometry to fill a Proteomics and Mass Spectrometrist position (rank: Associate Professional Specialist). This position combines conducting research in a lab and running a core facility. The research laboratory in question, the Cristea Lab, is at the interface between virology, proteomics and mass spectrometry. Running the core facility will involve training/advising other researchers in our Mass Spectrometry facility, designing experimental workflows, running experiments, and supervising the technicians in the facility. The successful candidate will join a vibrant, collaborative research community. Princeton University has a recently renovated Mass Spec facility with state-of-the-art equipment including a Thermo Fusion LUMOS and a Bruker timsTOF Pro. The successful applicant will conduct research in affiliation with the laboratory of Dr. Ileana Cristea, Professor of Molecular Biology and a recognized leader in the fields of Virology and Mass Spectrometry. Approximately half of the scientist's time will be devoted to running the facility, under the direction of Dr. Cristea. The remaining time this individual would spend conducting research in the Cristea lab. The Mass Spectrometrist will advise users of the facility on experimental design, sample preparation, and also serve as a resource for data analysis. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree and demonstrated extensive experience with proteomics and mass spectrometry. Experience with small molecule mass spectroscopy is desirable.
