INTRODUCTION

The Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) Department at the University of Connecticut invites applications for two tenure-track/tenured faculty position(s) at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in any area of Computer Science and Engineering. The positions have an expected start date of August 23, 2021. These positions seek to advance research and education in the vast field of computing within the CSE department and the University.

Candidates with a strong background in Innovation and Entrepreneurship will be considered for all ranks and in all Computer Science and Engineering related fields. Candidates in broader computing field whose scholarship and background is well-aligned with entrepreneurship, commercialization, and economic development are particularly encouraged to apply for additional tenure track positions at all ranks. Such candidates, in addition to excellence in their field of expertise, must demonstrate a successful track record as a serial entrepreneur or technology innovator.

Successful candidates will also be expected to enhance inclusion and broaden participation among members of under-represented groups; as demonstrated through their research, teaching, and/or public engagement, strengthen the richness of diversity in the learning experience; integrate multicultural experiences into instructional methods and research tools; and provide leadership in developing pedagogical techniques designed to meet the needs of diverse learning styles and intellectual interests.

The successful candidates will be expected to develop and sustain an internationally-recognized and externally-funded research program in an existing or emerging computing field. The successful candidates must also share a deep commitment to effective instruction at the undergraduate and graduate levels, development of innovative courses and mentoring of students in research, outreach, and professional development.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates must have an earned Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field by the time of appointment; an established record of research in an existing or emerging computing field; demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching; and a commitment to enhance inclusion and broaden participation among members of under-represented groups, as demonstrated through their research, teaching, and/or public engagement. Candidates must also have a demonstrated commitment to graduate education and an established record of leadership excellence. Equivalent foreign degrees are acceptable.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred candidates will possess an outstanding record of scholarship and research contributions in relevant computing areas; expertise in several areas of Computer Science or Computer Engineering; an established record of excellence in teaching; the ability to effectively communicate with students in both large and small audiences, and a record of public engagement.

APPOINTMENT TERMS

This is a full-time, 9-month, annually renewable tenure track position. Employment is conditional upon the timely completion of an approved I-9 (Employment Eligibility Verification Form). The candidates are expected to begin work on August 23, 2021. Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications.
