The Division of Infectious Diseases at The Brody School of Medicine provides state-of-the-art diagnosis and treatment for a wide range of infections. Infectious Disease doctors help ensure the timely diagnosis and treatment of acute infections by recommending the appropriate diagnostic tests to identify the source of infections and by recommending the appropriate antibiotic to treat the infection. We are dedicated to the treatment of persons infected with HIV in Eastern North Carolina. Our physicians and physician extenders currently provide care for more than 1,000 patients in our clinic in Greenville as well as another 300 patients in clinics in surrounding counties. Faculty members are currently collecting data to address the issue of the disproportionate infection rate of HIV in African Americans. The division is involved in many clinical trials involving HIV therapies. These trials provide needed drugs to persons who may otherwise not be able to receive treatment.Job Duties :
This is a self-directed position that will work under the direct supervision of the Ryan White, Director and Principle Investigator. The candidate of choice will oversee a broad range of social research activities and outreach activities for several Ryan White and other grants in the Division of Infectious Diseases. The applicant has to have basic knowledge of research principles (familiarity with institutional review board application processes; management of databases; data analysis, including data mining, using statistical software, such as SPSS and JMP; preparation of project reports, manuscripts and presentation) and the ability to organize community projects and collect outcome data. The applicant has to have the ability to exercise judgment and discretion in establishing, applying and interpreting policies and procedures and have ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with agency personnel, officials and the general public. Due to the nature of the job, the work schedule is flexible, including possible nights, and weekends.

The ECU Brody School of Medicine is affiliated with Vidant Medical Center. Vidant Medical Center is the flagship hospital for Vidant Health and serves as the teaching hospital for the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.Minimum Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.License or Certification required by statute or regulation:

Bachelor’s degree in public health, administration or related areas; or a combination of training and experience. A Master’s degree in public health, administration or related fields is highly desired.License or Certification required by the Department:
