Works closely with the Associate ViceChancellor for Research, Analytics and Decision Support Planning &Institutional Effectiveness and the Institutional Research and EffectivenessTeams. Position provides leadership for developing, maintaining, and usinginstitutional databases and research information systems to supportevidenced-based decision- making, assessment, evaluation, and program planningand review for student services. Supports the operation of Student Services advisingand enrollment functions through project management, data analysis, workforcecommunication, and provides administrative recommendations (to includeproviding timely information availability and quality) to others inside oroutside Houston Community College District that will be used to make decisions.


Develop reporting and performanceanalytics for Student Services advising and enrollment teams in support of keyprocesses. Track, analyze and recommend interventions for students with metricsindicating need for counseling or advising. Establish reporting needs foreffective decision making; mine data from disparate sources to providecomprehensive information perspective. Identify patterns and trends that mayimpact student success.

Lead and perform work processassessments and redesign based on process performance measurement andcontinuous process improvement methods; may provide training and/or makepresentations related to Student Services analytic findings and processdevelopment.

Design, report, and provide analyticsupport as necessary to improve enrollment services and advising programoperational efficiency. Use analytics to forecast key trends and identify leadmeasures. Support data management for unit and program review. Work withAdvising Leadership to provide analytics to support case management principles.

Assess College needs utilizing astructured requirements process (gathering, analyzing, documenting, andmanaging changes) to assist in identifying division and department priorities;develop, write, and communicate requirements for the implementation of businesssolutions.

Integrate data from key studentinformation systems and develop repeatable processes for data management andquality auditing.

Support development and maintenance ofprogramming code and datasets to support College-wide use of internal reports,data analysis, and data-driven decision-making.

Perform other duties, tasks andassignments as required.

QUALIFICATIONSEducation & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Associate’s degree plus 4 years directly related work experience may be considered in lieu of required degree
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • 3 years combined experience in project management, report writing, data analysis, application development, predictive modeling, statistical package, database design and maintenance, and reporting required

General office. May frequently be required to walk; stand;sit; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Specificvision abilities required by this job include close vision and distancevision. Use of personal computingequipment, telephone, multi-functioning printer, photocopier, file cabinets,and calculator. Manual dexterity,ability to lift up to 25 pounds, ability to reach and bend, and use 2-stepstool while safely lifting and lowering boxes. Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions or otherbusiness-related events. May be requiredto work after hours to include weekends and holidays.
