Hofstra University is a dynamic community of more than 11,000 students from around the world who are dedicated to civic engagement, academic excellence and becoming leaders in their communities and their careers.Description:The Social Media Manager manages and creates content for Hofstra’s main institutional and admission social media accounts, both domestic and international, to build the University’s brand and its online communities. Responsibilities include spearheading the University’s social strategy, content creation, monitoring, and analytics. The ability to create multimedia content – written, audio, graphics and video - is critical to this role. In particular, video skills are essential. You will produce annual, ongoing, and event-based social campaigns. This role also includes real-time monitoring of the University’s mentions across social platforms to identify trending conversations and, where appropriate, engaging and leveraging these conversations to build brand awareness and followings.

This is a creative, collaborative position that works with all departments across campus. The Social Media Manager must understand how to communicate with a variety of audiences, including students, prospective students, parents, faculty, staff, alumni, and media; how individual platforms can be used to reach specific constituencies; and what type of content works best on individual platforms. The Social Media Manager is expected to stay on top of industry developments and recommend adjustments to the University’s social strategies as necessary. This position works with and reports to not only the Office of University Relations, but the Office of Admission and its marketing team, as well.

This is an onsite position; work for this role is performed on campus.
Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree Required. Candidate should possess clear and concise writing skills. They should also have video filming and editing skills, including experience with programs such as Adobe Spark, Canva, Adobe Rush, Adobe Premiere Pro, iMovie, and Photoshop. An understanding of crisis communications and general public relations/media relations strategies. Familiarity with media and social media monitoring, curation and analysis platforms such as Hootsuite, Meltwater, and Juicer. Experience and familiarity creating content for Twitter, Facebook, Instagram (including Instagram Stories and IGTV), LinkedIn and TikTok.
