Work Schedule:

Typical work week is Monday-Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (9:00am-6:00pm; 9:30am-6:30pm). All staff rotate on Sundays 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm (typically 1 Sunday a month).
Must be willing to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the department.

Advertised Job Summary:

Provides a broad range of counseling and psychological services to students, including initial evaluation/assessment, treatment planning, case formulation, referral to appropriate services and treatment within the modalities of individual, couples and group psychotherapy. Provides crisis intervention and management as necessary, as well as triage to unscheduled walk-in students. Assesses client needs and diagnosis, devise and facilitate implementation of treatment planning goals, and evaluates treatment needs. Conducts clinical work and documentation in compliance with departmental, division and University of South Carolina policies and procedures. Participates as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide evidence-based practice with primary focus on initial diagnostic evaluation, assessment and referral to appropriate level of care. Maintains state license as a mental health professional, as well as SHS credentialing & privileging requirements as defined by SHS at all times. As a University employee, must comply with all applicable policies, procedures and directives to include but not limited to, UofSC, Student Health Services’ policies and procedures accreditation guidelines and other state/federal requirements.

Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions):

Master’s degree in a related field and 5 years related experience. Licensed or eligible to obtain a license as a mental health professional in the state of South Carolina.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred candidate will have strong diagnostic and intervention skills primarily in the role of intake/assessment/evaluation and referral to varying programs and levels of care. Previous experience with late adolescent and emerging adult populations in a mental health setting. Previous experience in a college/university counseling center or with college-aged students.
Experience with providing crisis intervention and stabilization services in a mental health setting. Previous experience working within a diverse, multidisciplinary team.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to quickly and effectively synthesize information into a coherent analysis. Strong decision-making and persuasion skills. Strong clinical skills. Familiarity with evidence based mental health treatment in an outpatient setting.
