The KCH DanceBlue Pediatric Hematology Oncology Clinic and Hemophilia Treatment Center are in search of a patient Financial Navigator.
Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to, evaluating eligibility and helping families apply to state assistance programs (Medicaid, Disability, Home and Community Based Waiver). Helping families navigate billing issues. Assisting families with understanding insurance plans and how they can understand and manage their plan in context of life threatening or chronic health condition. Finding charity programs and helping families navigate/enroll, copay and patient assistance program help, insurance optimization, and navigating health insurance. Follow patients throughout treatment trajectory to continually evaluate financial toxicity and how this can be mitigated. Communicate and follow up with patients and families throughout continuum of care to assist in increased access to care. Engage with an interdisciplinary team to provide holistic, supportive care. Patient advocate and liaison to assist with any financial aspects and barriers the patient/family may encounter. Assist with research enrollments, gathering and submission of study data, competency in research training requirements.
Use of electronic medical record, good problem solving skills. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Knowledge of and experience working with community based resources providing services to the identified patient population.Does this position have supervisory responsibilities? :
Bachelor’s degree in business, life sciences, or finance and need some knowledge of insurance rules and regulations.
Experience in health care, social work, and/or finance background. Financial advocates should also preferably have 1 to 3 years of experience in a financial advocacy capacity and a basic understanding of oncology practice.
Complete Certified Insurance Assister (KNECTOR) within one year of hire date preferred.
