Instruction [9-Month Appointment, Summer Supplement] (Tenure Track)

The Department of Curriculum and Instruction is comprised of a diverse group of faculty and students. Our dynamic faculty are committed to preparing professionals who value and demonstrate reflective practice and ethical decision making through respecting diversity, honoring difference, and promoting social justice. We do this through undergraduate and graduate programs that include extensive interaction with area schools and education agencies. Our three programs are: Elementary Education; Secondary Curriculum, Teaching, and Learning; and Literacy.

The University of Alabama is located in West Alabama and is 45 minutes southwest of Birmingham, AL. Tuscaloosa, a quintessential college town with a population of 101,113, has excellent recreational, educational, and cultural opportunities available . Minimum Qualifications:
• Earned doctorate in a specialization in the Department
• Proven record of leadership, teaching research, service, and successful external funding activities that would warrant the rank of professor or associate professor
• Ability to teach courses in a specialization in the Department
• Ability to work effectively with people in a variety of educational settings, on and off campus
• Previous administrative/leadership experience at the program or department level
• Previous experience with accreditation and certification processes in Pre-K-12 education
• Knowledge of curriculum requirements and trends in the programs included in the Department

Preferred Requirements
• At least two, full-time years of classroom teaching experience at the PreK-12 level, preferably in public schools
• Knowledge of classroom practice and pedagogy
