Position Summary


In this role, you will apply your communication, analytical and problem-solving skills to help identify and resolve issues that maximize the benefits of FRIB’s IT investments.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Installation and maintenance of Linux IT infrastructure in an Industrial Controls System (ICS) environment including deployment, security, automation, monitoring
  • Installation and maintenance of network hardware
  • Using the Puppet enterprise tool, you will write, update, and maintain configuration management programming code
  • And providing IT support for ICS network users
  • Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
  • Four-year degree in computer science, information systems, business or related information technology field
  • one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in an information technology area related to the duties to be performed; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to work with export controls technology
  • Desired Qualifications

    What will you need to be successful?

  • 3+ years of experience performing server-systems design, implementation, and administration with systems running Linux
  • 3+ years of experience working with server class hardware
  • Linux certification (preferred, but not required)
  • Experience with hypervisor clusters and containers
  • IT networking experience with managed switches, firewalls, VLANs
  • Ability to take projects from initial concept to implementation
  • Worked with clustered and high availability services
  • Used enterprise storage SAN/NAS systems
  • Experience with databases such as MySQL
  • Proficient with programming languages such as Python, Perl, Java, or Shell scripts
  • Experience with Puppet or Ansible
