Water System Plumber
Stanford University
Job Number: 87762
Welcome to Land, Buildings & Real Estate
Land, Buildings & Real Estate (LBRE) is the operational core of Stanford University's physical campus. LBRE constructs and maintains the Stanford campus, where advancements across the academic spectrum are made possible. Our work is founded upon the collective value of dedication, innovation, expertise, teamwork, and continuous improvement. We are committed to serving the university's academic mission, as well as preserving and enhancing Stanford's 8,180 acres, and pride ourselves on supporting the teaching and research of the university as “Caretakers of a Legacy."
Stanford University's water resources consist potable water derived from the Sierra Nevada mountains supplied by the San Francisco regional water system, along with its own sources of surface water diverted from creeks and ground water. The university practices sustainable water use by managing available resources to meet university needs while preserving ecological systems and maintaining these vital resources for future generations. Stanford's water conservation program is one of the most aggressive in the Bay Area, and has resulted in a 47 percent reduction of the university's domestic water use since 2000, even with the addition of more than 3 million square feet of new campus facilities. Most of the academic campus' irrigation water comes from creeks and wells on Stanford land, preserving treated or potable drinking water for domestic purposes. The Water Resources and Civil Infrastructure team also manages and maintains Stanford's civil infrastructure: water, sewer, and storm drainage systems, as well as dams, bridges, and roads.
