Assistant Clinical Research Coordinator/Life Science Research Professional🔍School of Medicine, Stanford, California, United States📁Research📅Nov 11, 2020 Post Date📅87768 Requisition #The Dhanasekaran lab is seeking a full-time Assistant Clinical Research Coordinator/Research Assistant to join our laboratory and assist the research team on translational research projects. In our lab we investigate mechanisms of cancer and liver cancer progression through studies of cultured cells, use of transgenic mouse models and also human specimens. Under the supervision of the PI, this technician will conduct experiments to support ongoing projects in the lab. The position includes work human samples. The successful applicant will become a member of a research team and must interact productively with other members of the team.

The Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology has a long tradition of major contributions in basic research, a new commitment to clinical and outcomes research, a track record of training fellows for academic careers, and a longitudinal commitment to providing care for patients with complex gastrointestinal and liver diseases.

Duties include:

  • Perform clerical duties in the preparation of regulatory documents. Maintain all forms and documents, including consent forms and master subject logs. File all appropriate correspondence.
  • Assist with the screening, recruiting, and obtaining consent of study participants. Review medical records and/or perform telephone or in-person interviews to gather data, as needed.
  • Extract data from source documents for research studies as directed. Collect data and complete case report forms.
  • Prepare, process, and ship specimens/samples accurately under well-defined requirements.
  • Interact with the principal investigator regularly, ensuring patient safety and adherence to proper study conduct.
  • Independently conduct experiments; maintain detailed records of experiments and outcomes.
  • Contribute to publication of findings as needed. Participate in the preparation of written documents, including procedures, presentations, and proposals.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in either a Clinical Research or Life Science research environment with the desire to learn the other.
  • Degree in Biology, Immunology, or related field.
  • Team player with the flexibility to work in an ever-changing environment.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):

  • Two-year college degree and one year of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):

  • General knowledge of medical terminology.

CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES:

  • Working toward certification(s) to perform basic patient measurements and tests, such as phlebotomy and EKG.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:

  • Frequently stand, walk, twist, bend, stoop, squat and use fine light/fine grasping.
  • Occasionally sit, reach above shoulders, perform desk-based computer tasks, use a telephone and write by hand, lift, carry, push, and pull objects that weigh up to 40 pounds.
  • Rarely kneel, crawl, climb ladders, grasp forcefully, sort and file paperwork or parts, rarely lift, carry, push, and pull objects that weigh 40 pounds or more.
