The mission of the NC State University Department of Athletics is to prepare student-athletes to compete at the highest level and to inspire them to be leaders now and for the future by providing the best environment to achieve their athletic, academic, and personal aspirations as well as providing support for the professional development of our coaches and staff, all within the role of the greater institutional relationships to the University. The Sports Medicine Department is responsible for providing medical care for student athletes.Essential Job Duties:
Serve as Athletic Trainer in the Department of Athletics for assigned sports (most likely Swimming & Diving). Position is responsible for the care of student-athletes, to include prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of the injured student-athletes under the supervision of the team physician.
Duties and Responsibilities include:
Assists in operating the athletic training room; ensures proper use of equipment and facilities by student-athletes; works with Associate Athletics Director for Sports Medicine and the Team Physician in providing comprehensive healthcare to our student-athletes; maintains medical records on student-athletes to include physical examinations and screenings, insurance information, injury evaluation and treatment records; attend scheduled meetings, team practices and events, including traveling with assigned team(s) and assist with conflict coverage; provides emergency care when indicated; assists with maintenance of the athletic training room equipment; assists with annual physical examinations and drug testing program.
Assists with preparation of budget requests and managing inventory of supplies for athletic training room operations; interfaces with coaches regarding injured student-athletes; follows the NATA Code of Ethics; remains current on all state and national requirements for certification and licensure; agrees to comply with all regulatory agency statues, University, ACC, and NCAA bylaws, legislation, and mandates; and perform other duties as requested by the Associate Athletics Director for Sports Medicine. Sport assignment may be changed at the discretion of the Associate Athletics Director for Sports Medicine.Minimum Experience and Education:
Master’s degree required.Other Required Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 years experience working within a college or professional athletics program.
NATABOC certification is required.
Must be eligible for NC Board of Athletic Training license.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills.Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with swimming & diving at the college or professional level preferred.Required License(s) or Certification(s):
