Job Summary

Perform advanced financial records maintenance and report preparation and reconciliation within the business area of an academic/research unit or non-academic department. Coordinate those activities with other campus units. Work may involve records, reports and proposals related to funding from various sources, budgeting and accounting. May supervise or provide guidance to other finance/accounting personnel. This position will interact with on a consistent basis with: unit management, staff and co-workers. This position typically will advise and counsel: unit financial/accounting staff. This position may supervise assigned financial/accounting staff personnel.

Responsibilities

- Within an academic/research unit, develop and prepare financial data related to proposals, grants and contracts, general appropriations, endowments and other funds.
- Generate data for use in budget amendments and other budget related reporting.
- Collect, reconcile and audit monthly unit expense transactions.
- Process travel requests to include review for accuracy and appropriate supporting documentation.
- Review and/or process payroll, time documents and personnel action forms.
- Coordinate unit financial related actions with Institute financial units.
- Recommend changes to unit finance/accounting procedure and process as appropriate.
- Provide work related advice and direction to other unit finance/accounting personnel; may also supervise those personnel.
- Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Experience
Three to five years job related experience

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

SKILLS:
This job requires sponsored contract proposal experience and advanced knowledge of and skill in applying general accounting principles and practices within a university business environment. Also required: Attention to detail/accuracy and prior experience in use of standard and specialized office accounting related computer applications. Prior experience working with Workday preferred.

This position will reside within the Georgia Tech Enterprise Innovation Institute (EI2). This role provides professional financial services for 100+ research faculty personnel in EI2, most of which are assigned as Georgia Tech Extension Professionals.

Georgia Tech Extension Professionals are research personnel assigned to fulfill the extension service mission of Georgia Tech to the State of Georgia and beyond. This mission includes, but is not limited to, technology-based economic development, technology commercialization and deployment, entrepreneurship, start-up company incubation, and business/industry outreach. Extension Professionals also provide educational programs for business and industry in support of these missions through facilitating and fostering increased industrial engagement and sponsorship of applied research activities at Georgia Tech.

Location

The primary office location will be in the metro-Atlanta area however, incumbent in this position may be expected to remain flexible due to client schedules and/or sponsored project requirements.
