Position Summary:

The Undergraduate Business Program (UBP) is the largest academic program within UNC’s Kenan-Flagler Business School with an enrollment of approximately 1,000 majors and minors. The Undergraduate Business Program Office provides academic and student development services for current and prospective students, as well as faculty and staff. Specific services include: prospective student recruitment and admissions; academic services, including academic advising, course scheduling, and graduation; new student orientation; student life and engagement programs, such as student clubs and organizations, case competitions and other community-building opportunities; study abroad and other global program experiences; and career development programs.

The Assistant Director for Undergraduate Business Admissions, Recruitment, and Diversity Programming (ARDP) is responsible for day-to-day operations of student recruitment for the Undergraduate Business Program. In addition to serving as an admissions representative for thousands of UNC prospective students that engage with the Undergraduate Business Program (UBP), the Assistant Director also functions as an admissions counselor for the pre-business population of students on campus and serves on the admissions committee. This role will have a unique focus on diversity pipeline programming and manages the Allison Mentorship Program, which serves pre-business students from underserved populations.

Educational Requirements:

A Bachelor’s degree is required. All degrees must be from accredited institutions.

Qualifications and Experience:

One to three years of experience in a higher education setting is required. Preference given to candidates with higher education experience at a business school, particularly in student engagement or experience with diverse student populations.

Successful candidates should have demonstrated ability and experience in the following:
Strong interpersonal, communication, organization, and analytical skills. This position requires critical thinking and sound judgment. Experience working and communicating to develop and maintain relationships across a range of diverse stakeholders. Ability to manage multiple tasks/priorities while maintaining a high level of attention to detail. Highly motivated, demonstrates initiative, positive attitude, and results-driven. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) required, as well as level of comfort using distance technology communication tools (such as Zoom or Skype). Ability to flex work hours to include early morning and evening hours during peak times. Ability to organize and prioritize work. Experience with student information systems (i.e., PeopleSoft/Connect Carolina) and/or Slate. Ability to maintain composure in fast-paced environment and provide flawless service to a variety of stakeholders. Process and detail orientation towards operational effectiveness and efficiency. Must possess a professional demeanor with excellent organizational, written and oral communication skills. Capable of documenting and sharing processes.
