Description of Work:

Description of Work: Position duties will involve each Medical Scribe shift lasting the length of the provider shift. The Medical Scribe will spend the entire shift working directly with the assigned provider(s). The Medical Scribe will shadow the assigned provider(s) throughout the shift and patient encounters; documenting the initial history (including chief complaint, current medications, allergies, and recent visits), physical exam, re-evaluations, procedure notes, consultations, and completing discharge paperwork (including work/school notes). The Medical Scribe will also assist in the re-evaluation process, notifying the provider as diagnostic studies result. They will be trained on how to page consultants, how to obtain previous EKGs, labs, and imaging results, and how to fill out basic medical forms (i.e. consent forms and outside records request form).
Medical Scribes will not serve as patient care technicians; as employees with direct patient care require additional training (i.e. scribes only serve the purpose of improving documentation efficiency, not moving patients for pelvic exams, interpreting test results for patients, etc.). The Medical Scribes will not serve as Health Unit Coordinators (HUCs); the purpose of the scribe is to assist with documentation.
The selected candidate(s) must agree to work a minimum of 18 hours/week. Holiday coverage will be required for this position.
This recruitment is seeking pre-health students, with basic anatomical knowledge, who are looking for an opportunity to gain clinical experience.

Education and Experience:

Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Strong performance in coursework in the natural sciences, particularly Anatomy and Physiology, is preferred.

Special Physical and Mental Requirements:

This position requires standing and maintaining concentration for long periods of time. You must be able to push a medium-weight computer on wheels on a flat, tiled floor.
