Job Description Summary / TWC Summary:

Under general supervision supervises electricians and trades helpers in the repair, maintenance, and installation of electrical systems.

Essential Duties Summary:

•Hires, coaches, reviews, supervises, and terminates assigned employees, or makes effective suggestions and recommendations that are given particular weight regarding the employment status of assigned employees.
•Schedules, assigns, plans, and monitors the work of electrical shop personnel performing a variety of electrical projects.
•Plans and develops work schedules, equipment usage schedules, priority of electrical expenditures, and procedures for equipment and appliance maintenance.
•Reviews plans, blueprints and drawings for future buildings, and inspects new buildings to ensure compatibility with existing electrical codes and maintenance standards.
•Prepares material and labor estimates.
•Monitors the acquisition and use of materials.
•Maintains time, payroll, work order, material, equipment, and other electrical shop records, and submits reports.
•Trains or informs employees of new work methods or procedures, changes in safety regulations, work policies, electrical codes and standards, and the like.
•Ensures budgeting guidelines are met; prioritizes shop expenditures to stay within budget and assists in preparation of capital and operations budgets.
•Interprets University and department policies to assigned personnel and enforces safety regulations and adherence to proper codes and standards.
•Inspects new construction and remodels.
•Assists Engineers in design requirements.
•Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Hiring Range:

$55,513.00 - $69,392.00

Education:

High School diploma or G.E.D. or equivalent education.

Required Licensing/Certification:

State Recognized Master License (Low voltage).

Preferred:
Valid Texas Driver’s License.
NETA Certified.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of:
•Policies, procedures, and practices, such as, OSHA, NFPA, NEC, etc.
•Safety guidelines.
•Tools, equipment, and materials common to the electrical trade.
•Applicable electrical codes, standards, and regulations.
•Banner and other job-related software systems.
•Supervisory principles, practices, and techniques.
•Electrical applications for high and low voltage electrical systems.
•Microsoft Office Professional or similar applications.
•Experience with 480V Motor Control, Transformers, Switch Gears.
•Variable frequency drives.
•Zero to 10 volts signaling for HVAC related equipment.
•Minimal 600V 3 phases.
•Familiar with 15kV, 4160V, 12470V.

Preferred:
Knowledge of Medium to High Voltage.

•Problem-solving and decision-making.
•Installation, repair, and maintenance of all types of electrical system equipment and components.
•Estimating time and material requirements of assigned work projects.

Work Experience:

Nine (9) years of electrical repair and maintenance experience, which includes seven (7) years of supervisor experience, with the completion of a four-year federally approved technical training program in electrical repair and maintenance;

OR

Eleven (11) years of electrical repair and maintenance experience which, includes seven (7) year of supervisory experience.

Working/Environmental Conditions:
