In addition, the successful candidate will be well versed in the use of Linux computing environments and the use of one or more programming languages that are commonly used in data science, such as Python, R, or Java. The teaching load is a 3/3 for research active faculty, and the successful candidate will be a dedicated teacher who will offer undergraduate and graduate level courses in bioinformatics, data science for biologists, systems biology, or related areas. In addition, the candidate may be expected to contribute to the teaching of 1000 and/or 2000-level courses in Biology, such as Statistics in Biology & Medicine, Introductory Cellular and Molecular Biology (General Biology I), and Genetics. Summer teaching assignments may be available, but are not guaranteed. The successful candidate will also be expected to engage in institutional service.
