Primary Function of Organizational Unit:

The Division of Hematology/Oncology has a legacy of excellence in care and specialized expertise. It is a regional resource for eastern North Carolina, and has assisted in the development of cancer programs in several outlying hospitals. Because of the complexity of these diseases and the rapid development of new therapies, multidisciplinary disease oriented care is our model. We offer specialized programs in breast cancer, aerodigestive tract malignancy, melanoma, urologic malignancies, hematologic malignancies, benign hematology and hemostasis. We educate and train young oncologists to be oncology thinkers and not just doers. We are a beacon of the best cancer care and treatment across Eastern North Carolina.

Job Duties :

A research nurse specialist is needed to assist with the coordination of research studies within Division of Hematology/Oncology, currently including benign hematology, oncology and COVID-19 studies. The greatest need is for our benign hematology studies that require clinical skills such as venipuncture and injections. The candidate will assist with study start-up with regulatory requirements/IRB submissions, participant screening and enrollment, and on-going participant management and data collection.

CLINICAL SUPPORT POSITION – NOT SUBJECT TO STATE HUMAN RESOURCES ACT.

The ECU Brody School of Medicine is affiliated with Vidant Medical Center. Vidant Medical Center is the flagship hospital for Vidant Health and serves as the teaching hospital for the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.

Minimum Education/Experience:

Graduation from state-accredited school of registered nursing and two years of nursing experience, with at least one year in the assigned specialty area. Must have a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina by the North Carolina Board of Nursing. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education:

Graduation from state-accredited school of registered nursing. Must have current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina by the North Carolina Board of Nursing. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
